Women of Vienna's Golden Age 1900-1918 : Portraits by Gustav Klimt (1862-1918)
" The Women of Vienna's Golden Age" , this Autumn's exhibition of portraits by artist Gustav Klimt at the Neue Galerie , New York, NY.
In 1996, the first time I saw Klimt's most famous portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer , the painting was still hanging in the Belvedere Museum in Vienna. Upon first sight of the Nazi looted portrait , referred to then as , 'the Woman in Gold' or more commonly as the , 'Viennese Mona Lisa ' , I recall no words in which to suffice , as to describe either the depth of beauty or the emotional attachment apparent between Klimt and Adele , still ever present today , in this masterpiece portrait . The concentration of Klimt's focus on his subject Adele cannot be ignored in this painting , his emotions are captured in every brush stroke, evoking from the viewer , an equal intensity of love and adoration for Adele.
Experience this Gustav Klimt painting yourself ! The exhibition runs from September 2016 until January 16, 2017
